A Dyadic Biography

The Spacious Present

It was in the later 1970s that I first became acquainted with the concept of the spacious present. Hence, I’ve had a lot of time to experiment with it. Today, I see it as a place to stand way back from the past, the immediate present, and the future. It includes being outside most Western cultural concepts of space and time.

In the Introduction when I wrote about the four time frames I was living my life within, I talked about multidimensional divine time in relationship with the spacious present, where I believe emphases that are made translate into natural world time and cultural time when it’s appropriate to do so in an “all things considered” sense. I also think that within the spacious present the past can be and is changed.

During the most recent couple of years I feel like I have been including the rest of my story, aspects of my past life I hadn’t made very significant, or significant at all. Like most people I know, I think I had been selectively identifying with portions of the past, which in many ways didn’t give me a full deck of cards to play with. By incorporating as much of my life experiences as I can, I feel “I” have expanded—and I also have more to work with in terms of contrasts.

By continuing to use my “bands of reality” schema when it seems wise to do so, as I’ve looked back on Jim and my lives, I see each of us having energized patterns and having experiences in both of our culture’s bands B and A. In “bands of reality,” band B is where the solid citizens of a society live their lives most of the time, but since there is usually more vitality and vividness in band A, there are many temptations for band B players to cross over and be more than spectators in relationship with band A energizers and participants.

All this has given me more penetrating Understandings, including deep Compassion for each of us spirit-beings who have had parts in the experiment I believe has been occurring during the past thousands of years.

And so, after fully experiencing past events as truthfully and fully as possible in the immediate present, it is in the spacious present that I play around a lot with specific past situations, where I imaginatively write and experience different scripts for myself and others. I believe the process can help defrost what is possibly frozen and stuck in one’s psychic structure and body organism. This falls within the realm of a process I'm calling “applications,” by using my past in this manner.

The spacious present is also the place where, oftentimes after forming understandings that are as accurate as possible about current-day situations, I then energize what I choose as my contributions to the whole scenario. Without any oppositions, with Love and Gratitude, I’ve learned how to not endorse many energy constructions, while energizing those I am choosing.
